Planet earth needs our help!
InterServ, L.P. is trying to make a difference through the recycling of construction debris, and use of ‘green’ building materials. Here are a few actual examples of how we are trying to help:
- On a recent project in California that generated more than 2,400 tons of construction waste, InterServ, L.P. was able to work with the roll off container provider and divert over 75 percent of this waste from landfills! That is over 3 ½ million pounds of construction debris that avoided the landfill! The demolished concrete was ground up for road base, the old guestroom carpet shredded for fiber padding, and the metal scrap was recycled and re-generated for use in other industries.
- Over the last several years InterServ, L.P. supplied more than a half million square feet of glass tile to many of our renovation projects. This glass is comprised of a sizeable percentage of recycled glass. Literally, tons of scrap glass was diverted from landfills to be used for the creation of this material.
- When our factories overseas fabricate vanity tops and the sink cut out is made, this piece of perfectly good stone is traditionally heaped in a pile and considered waste. We have directed our factories to use this marble and granite material to create mosaic tiles for floor and wall coverings! This helps in a relatively small way – yet stone is a natural resource and we strive to use every bit of what we and our factories quarry from the earth!
